NEW £500,000 LAB TO TRAIN TOMORROW’S CHEMISTS

NEW £500,000 LAB TO TRAIN TOMORROW’S CHEMISTS

This specialist centre is a partnership between three members of the GW4 Alliance, the Universities of Bath, Bristol, and Cardiff, and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

“The new £500,000 laboratory with a range of catalyst screening and testing equipment combines with the high-tech 16-seater seminar room to give our talented doctoral students the spaces they need to grow, and will help us continue to build our reputation as a world-leading institute."

Cardiff University’s Professor Graham Hutchings, Director of the Centre, said: “Students come from across the world to join our internationally excellent doctoral training programme, run in conjunction with the Universities of Bath and Bristol.

Students register with Cardiff as their ‘home’ university for the first year, but can chose to follow their studies at GW4 partners Bristol or Bath as they choose further options.

The centre addresses some of society’s biggest challenges through catalysis: clean energy generation, environmental clean-up of air and water, and sustainable manufacture. Postgraduate research students develop an advanced knowledge of traditional and emerging catalysis disciplines, as well as an understanding of industry and global contexts.
