Great South West

The Great South West covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Dorset – an area whose economy is worth £64.4 billion – almost double the size of Greater Manchester or West Midlands.

It includes three Local Enterprise Partnerships, seven county and unitary authorities, six universities and major businesses – all working together.

The partnership between GW4 and the Great South West will capitalise on our strengths and our shared interests, especially in areas such as green energy including hydrogen fuel.

Together we aim to build on the area’s outstanding natural capital and work with creative businesses to develop a clean, digital economy and tackle climate change.

The area has major strengths and expertise in marine industries, photonics, environmental science, nuclear, aerospace, advanced engineering, digital innovation, tourism, agritech, and food and drink production.

And it is home to Europe’s largest infrastructure project at Hinkley Point, Europe’s first horizontal launch spaceport in Cornwall, and in Dorset, one of the country’s leading centres for financial services.
