GW4 Connect

What is GW4 Connect?

GW4 Connect is a suite of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) programmes which will bring together postgraduate researchers from diverse backgrounds to form networks of support for marginalised and underrepresented communities in higher education.

Developed by GW4 Alliance, it will bring together researchers from the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter to meet, share, support and learn from each other, building partnerships that you can take forward beyond the programme.

In 2024, GW4 Connect will be offering two new pilot programmes:

  1. A 10-month facilitated peer support programme for 12 postgraduate researchers with disabilities and long-term health conditions, or
  2. An 11-month facilitated peer support programme for 16 neurodivergent postgraduate researchers.

Participants will be offered the opportunity to work with expert facilitators and coaches, alongside their peers, to create a safe space for honest, free conversations outside of institutional structures.

These programmes build on the successes and lessons learned from the GW4 Connect programmes launched in 2023 for postgraduate researchers from the global majority[1] and postgraduate researchers with parental responsibilities, which are currently ongoing.

[1] Global Majority refers to Black, African, Asian, and Brown people, people of dual heritage, those native to the global south, and / or those who have been racialized as ‘ethnic minorities’. These groups represent approximately 80% of the world’s population.

Please note, this programme was previous called GW4 Connect – Peer Mentorship for Postgraduate Researchers of Colour.
