The Western Gateway brings together business, academia and government from both sides of the England-Wales border to create new opportunities for the 4.4 million people who live in its region.
Our partnership aims to drive green and economic growth, regionally and more widely by pooling our expertise and knowledge to power mutual projects that can level up communities and help the world achieve a sustainable Net Zero carbon economy faster.
Our ongoing projects include our joint bid to bring the country’s first fusion prototype plant to the area and use our skills to unlock this vital green fuel.
It’s one of many ways we are exploring together to:
- help communities at risk of being left behind,
- become the UK’s first green energy super cluster, and
- capitalise on investment in green innovation.
