The X-CITED Communities CNCC:
You build the tech. You run the facilities. You make research happen. Now connect with people who get it.
Hundreds of technical experts in engineering and physical sciences across Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, and Exeter are doing work like yours—designing experiments, maintaining equipment, developing new methods. But you’ve probably never met most of them.
X-CITED Communities change that. Join today: MAILING LIST REGISTRATION
What is the CNCC community about?
Vision
The Chemical & Nanomaterial Characterisation Community (CNCC) was created to build a connected Research Technical Professional (RTP) Community for those working across similar disciplinary areas – enabling peer support, knowledge exchange and driving best practice.
Aims
- Find people like you: Foster peer-to-peer support and collaboration.
- Shape your development: Enhance access to development opportunities through information sharing and raising awareness.
- Stop reinventing the wheel and share solutions: Encourage knowledge exchange to get direct access to best practice, expertise and experience.
- Get visible and have a voice: Build a connected and visible community that supports and recognises RTP careers.

Scope
This community will:
- Connect RTPs across disciplines where research interests are aligned to support knowledge exchange and collaboration
- Host regular events, such as peer-learning sessions, technical showcases, seminars and community-led workshops
- Facilitate discussion groups to enable the exchange of questions, solutions, and technical insights
- Curate and disseminate development opportunities, including internal/external courses and pool resources to support skills development
- Support the adoption of best practice in areas such as safety, process efficiency, sustainability and operational excellence.
- Encourage mentoring and skill‑sharing relationships, supporting RTPs at all career stages
- Champion the contribution of RTPs by highlighting success stories, case studies, and examples of impactful work.
