Mapping Displacement Futures: Towards a GW4 Centre on Displacement

Displacement is one of the defining challenges of our present and future. Across the UK and globally, people are being displaced by conflict, climate change, environmental hazards, economic insecurity, housing pressures, and unequal access to services and rights. These interconnected pressures require new ways of thinking about how more just and sustainable futures might be imagined with, rather than only for, displaced people and the organisations that support them. At the same time, research on displacement is often spread across different disciplines, institutions, and sectors. This means that academics, NGOs, community organisations, and people with lived experience do not always have shared spaces to imagine and develop future responses together. Led by Dr Kinan Noah (PI), this project will explore what a future GW4 Centre on Displacement could offer, identify regional priorities, and co-develop a shared vision for future research and impact.
