Director's update:

As I reflect on the past 12 months, I'm delighted to say 2023 has been another fantastic year for GW4. In the summer we celebrated 10 years of collaborative research and innovation and launched our new strategic vision focusing on four key areas: sustainable Net Zero, cyber and digital transformation, health and wellbeing, and creative communities. Since then we have received significant funding for Net Zero research projects, launched a new mental health network across the alliance and building on the success of the GW4 supercomputer Isambard, the University of Bristol was awarded £225 million from the Government to create the UK’s fastest supercomputer. Take a look at more of our highlights and share yours on social media using #GW4highlights2023.

Collaboration is at the heart of GW4 and for next year I am looking forward to working with our partners and forming new connections to advance our collaborative research and innovation, especially in our strategic research areas, to address the global challenges we face.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all colleagues for their hard work and commitment this year and wish you all a peaceful and enjoyable break. I’d also like to particularly thank the fantastic GW4 core team, so much effort goes into supporting the universities, devising and driving activities that add-value as shown in the highlights video.

For now though, take a look at the newsletter for exciting updates including up to £20K funding for collaborative research communities, doctoral training partnerships and the opportunity to work at GW4.
