Directors Update:

This month we were delighted to announce GW4 Isambard 2, the largest ARM based supercomputer in Europe. Funded by EPSRC and hosted by the Met Office, this facility will be utilised by researchers across the Alliance and globally to further scientific discovery.

Following our new GW4 Technical Staff Travel Bursary scheme which proved very popular, we are pleased to launch the GW4 Technical Staff Professional Registration scheme. In line with our institutions’ pledge to the Technician Commitment, these schemes support our technical staff to gain recognition and help facilitate their career development.

We received a fantastic response to our Generator Award Funding call, designed to build research communities of scale and capability. Working with the selection panel, I look forward to reviewing your collaborative research proposals aimed at creating new GW4 communities or developing the strongest ideas from our existing communities. We will announce the successful research communities in the coming weeks.
