UX & User-Centred Design for Academic Projects Workshop
The X-CITED Digital Community is hosting a one-day workshop on UX and User-Centred Design for Academic Projects on Monday 8th December at Exeter University.
This interactive session is designed to support researchers and technical professionals across GW4 universities in applying user-centred design principles to their academic work. Places are limited, and will be allocated to ensure broad representation across GW4 institutions.
Priority will be given to Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) over academics or students, and to individuals for whom the workshop will be particularly beneficial to their role. If demand is high, we plan to offer a second workshop to accommodate more participants.

Upcoming events – Coming in 2026
X-CITED Industrial Challenge Project (ICP) – 3 day Workshop event
Join us in Cardiff for our second X-CITED ICP programme Workshop Event.
The X-CITED ICPs offer an exciting opportunity for Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) across GW4 Universities to apply their expertise in tackling real-world physical science and engineering challenges. These challenges are set by industry partners and will be explored through collaborative team projects that bring together RTPs and industry colleagues.
Project ideas will be developed during interactive workshop sessions and delivered through hands-on team-based problem-solving projects. The ICP model is designed to harness RTPs’ existing technical skills while developing new multi-disciplinary project skills and simultaneously gaining valuable insights into industry applications. Participants will engage in multi-disciplinary collaborations, leveraging cutting-edge capabilities across GW4 Universities to address industry challenges and drive innovation.

Presentation Skills workshop
This introductory session is ideal for anyone who’s new to presenting—whether you’re sharing your research, showcasing your facility, or simply presenting yourself with confidence. If you’re unsure where to begin, don’t particularly enjoy presenting, or want to strengthen your skills, this workshop is the perfect place to start.
