GW4 launches new Technical Staff Travel Bursary Scheme

To facilitate the career development of technical staff across the partnership, GW4 is currently inviting applications to its new Technical Staff Travel Bursary scheme.

The aim is to enable technical staff at GW4 Universities to visit other GW4 institutions to share best practice, gain experience with equipment or resources, or to develop technical skills through work shadowing. Funding will be made available for travel and, if required, accommodation.

The bursary applies to technical staff at all levels of the institution and across career stages, and is a competitive process. Applications will be assessed by the GW4 Technical Infrastructure and Knowledge Working Group.

GW4 Director, Dr Sarah Perkins, said: “We are committed to supporting our technical staff at all career stages and we are delighted to be able to offer this bursary scheme to help develop their careers. This compliments our current activities such as the Facilities Manager’s Forums in addition to further initiatives we intend to announce in the coming months.”

The GW4 Alliance is exploring how it can provide cross-institutional support to technical staff across all aspects as set out in the Technicians Commitment (Visibility; Recognition; Career Development; Sustainability).

Deadline for applications is 12:00pm, Monday, 24 February 2020. Find out more about eligibility and how to apply.
