GW4 Launches new Technical Staff Professional Registration Scheme
GW4 is offering a new competitive professional registration scheme for technical staff at GW4 universities to become members of professional bodies and learned societies.
In line with GW4 universities’ pledge to the Technician Commitment, our aim is to enhance the visibility of technical staff by enabling them to gain recognition of their knowledge, experience and leadership skills within and across the partner institutions.
Professional registration provides public recognition for technicians' knowledge and experience, demonstrates fitness for leadership, and develops the skills and experience needed for career progression. The aim of the scheme is to enhance this recognition and elevate our technicians’ visibility across the four partner institutions.
Successful applicants will benefit from:
- Financial support by GW4 covering the first year of membership fees.
- A networking event to meet other successful applicants to the scheme and learn about professional registration from those who have completed the process.
- A point of contact to provide guidance on the submission of professional registration application.
This scheme applies to technical staff at all levels of each institution and is a competitive process. Applications will be assessed by the GW4 Technical Infrastructure and Knowledge Working Group.
GW4 Director, Dr Sarah Perkins, said: “Following the launch of our technical staff travel bursary scheme, which proved very popular, we are pleased to be able to offer this professional registration scheme to further support our technical staff progress in their careers."
The GW4 Alliance is exploring how it can provide cross-institutional support to technical staff across all aspects as set out in the Technicians Commitment (Visibility; Recognition; Career Development; Sustainability).
Deadline for applications - extended until 9th April. Find out more about eligibility and how to apply.
