GW4 Animal Replacement Technologies Forum
Location: LT 1.21, Sir Martin Evans Building, Cardiff University, The Museum Ave, Cardiff CF10 3AX.
The GW4 Animal Replacement Network is excited to announce its first symposium, celebrating its launch with a dynamic gathering of researchers at Cardiff University in March 2025. This free event will unite scientists from diverse fields to exchange knowledge, showcase innovative research, and foster collaborations that advance animal replacement technologies.
The symposium will spotlight the expertise of early-career researchers, offering opportunities for networking and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Attendees will explore cutting-edge developments through talks and posters highlighting advances in tissue engineering, in-vitro modelling, stem cells and regenerative medicine, mathematical modelling, organ-on-a-chip, 3D cell culture, and 3D bioprinting, among other transformative fields. Free of charge, open to all interested in animal replacement technologies, this event will feature exceptional keynote speakers presenting groundbreaking research.
Abstract submissions are encouraged from a wide range of disciplines, including immunity, neuroscience, and cancer. Don’t miss this chance to engage with the latest advancements in animal replacement science and connect with leading experts in the GW4 and broader research communities. Together, let’s drive innovation in animal replacement technologies. The day will include two keynote sessions, a dedicated networking session, poster presentations, and oral presentations selected from abstracts submitted by early-career researchers.
Keynote speakers:
- Prof Umber Cheema, Professor of Bioengineering, UCL Centre for 3D models of Health and Disease, UCL, London. Title: Advanced biomimetic 3D models to mimic tumour-stroma.
- Dr Sally Cowley, Head of the James and Lillian Martin Centre for Stem Cell Research within the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. Title: Modelling neuroinflammation using human iPS cells.
Registration: Please register to attend via Microsoft Forms and submit an abstract if you would like an oral presentation slot (10 minutes) or a poster presentation: https://forms.office.com/e/JTQGCtdWuX.
