Join GW4, the University of Bristol and Cardiff University, for the GW4 Leverhulme Trust Lecture, where internationally-renowned scholar and judge, Justice Professor Joel Ngugi, will explore: Access to Justice and Kenya's Transformative Constitution.

Date and time: Friday 1st November 2024, 5pm-6:30pm

 

In-Person Event (GW4 Alliance only):
  • Open to GW4 Alliance University staff and students (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter universities)
  • The event will take place in Room 1.11, Old Council Chamber (please note the change of venue), Wills Memorial Building, University of Bristol.
  • Please register to attend via Eventbrite.
  • Please remember to bring you University ID Card with you, in order to attend the in-person session.

Please note, the lecture will start promptly at 5:30pm, so we kindly ask that you arrive in time to take your seat or to be admitted onto the Zoom call. Both spaces will open from 5pm.

 

About Justice Professor Ngugi:

Image says: Justice Ngugi studied law at the University of Nairobi and holds an SJD from Harvard. A pioneer of Third World Approaches to International Law, he held academic posts in the US before joining the Kenyan judiciary where he has been director of the Judiciary Academy. He currently sits in the Court of Appeal. In 2018, he was appointed by the Chief Justice to the chair of Kenya’s Taskforce on Alternative Justice Systems.
