The GW4 Sustainable Finance Conference brings together leading academics to present cutting-edge research in sustainable finance to a diverse audience of researchers, students, policymakers, and industry experts. The GW4 Sustainable Finance Community Day on 20 May 2025 is a workshop designed to spark new collaborative research among academics and practitioners across GW4 institutions.
Hosted at the University of Bath School of Management, this two-day event aims to foster cross-institutional collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote innovative solutions for sustainable financial systems.
The conference will feature renowned keynote and invited speakers dedicated to the field of sustainable finance. The programme also includes an internal session for scholars with the GW4 network, providing a platform for researchers to receive constructive feedback and develop new cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Day 1 (Monday 19 May) will bring together leading academics and policymakers to present cutting-edge research in sustainable finance. The programme features keynote and invited speakers including Professor Zacharias Sautner (University of Zurich), Professor Ulrich Hege (Toulouse School of Economics), Dr Tristan Jourde (Banque de France), Dr Oğuzhan Karakaş (University of Cambridge), and others from institutions across the UK and Europe. GW4 faculty will also present current research, with poster and internal sessions designed to showcase work by PhD students and early career researchers.
Day 2 (Tuesday 20 May) is a GW4 Sustainable Finance Network Community Day (invite-only), focused on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The agenda includes talks from GW4 academics, policy, and industry partners, as well as sessions on funding opportunities (including UKRI, ESRC, and IAA) and strategic planning for joint research bids. The day will conclude with a networking lunch and future collaboration planning session.
