This month has been another exciting time for GW4. We held a Knowledge Exchange Framework workshop with Research England and welcomed back our early career researchers for Lab 2 of GW4 Crucible to explore working in collaboration. We are also pleased to announce the successful student-led training projects and mental wellbeing initiatives to support our postgraduate community.
It has been fantastic to see our region recognised recently with several positive announcements. We are delighted the Science Minister announced a funding boost for our region with GW4 universities leading on projects within the UKRI’s Strength in Places Fund. With all the noise around Brexit you’d be forgiven for almost missing the Chancellor’s Spring Statement which included changes to visa regulations for researchers and a further commitment to science and technology projects.
Plus, on the day the UK was due to leave the EU and with ongoing political uncertainty around Brexit, we look at one GW4 research community researching the impacts leaving the EU will have on regional businesses.
